Change - You Go First!
As a transformational coach, my quest for personal growth and evolution is a never-ending adventure. I literally can’t stop! Whether it’s diving into learning, engaging in self-inquiry, seeking therapy, or exploring experiential modalities, I believe in walking the path of transformation that I invite my clients to join. It’s not just about being an effective coach; it’s about embodying the change I encourage others to pursue.
Lately, I've been reflecting on what fuels my drive forward. Many milestones have been reached—my kids are growing into their own, I have a cozy home, and the frantic pace of a corporate career is behind me. As is normal, my life has had its ups and downs, with joys, moments of abundance, hardship, tragedies and traumas weaving their long strands into the fabric of my being. Understanding what motivates me NOW is crucial as I shape the next chapter of my life.
Through contemplation, I’ve come to realize that my core longing now is simply to be ME. That’s it! Free and unencumbered. It sounds so straightforward, yet the journey to this freedom is anything but. Staying connected to this deep desire is essential for my work as a coach and for my own well-being. It reminds me of a powerful quote by my fellow Dane, Søren Kierkegaard, who wrote that humans long “to be that self which one truly is”. This sentiment echoes in the work of renowned psychologist Carl Rogers, who highlighted* that becoming who we are often involves shedding what no longer serves us:
The masks we wear
The burden of others’ expectations
The tyranny of ‘shoulds’
The habit of constant people-pleasing
Simultaneously, we build our capacity to move towards
Self-direction and autonomy
Embracing the complexity of change and interdependence
Accepting ourselves and others as we are
Trusting in our own abilities
I recently had an embodied experience that gave me a taste of this ‘true self’ while dancing 5 Rhythms - for a few precious moments, I felt unabashedly FREE. Free in the way my body moved, free of any expectations, free of judgment. The masks fell away, the opinions of others no longer mattered. There was no separation between me as an individual dancer and how the group moved as a whole. It was absolutely exhilarating!!! Since then, I have been sitting with this question: what would become possible if I could move through my life from this radiant place of freedom?
This brings me to another realization: I have a passionate desire to be of service. This calling informs my mission to help individuals, teams, and organizations to thrive while making a positive impact in the world. In my coaching practice, I love to explore these transformative questions with my clients.
If any of this resonates with you, I invite you to apply or schedule a discovery call with me. Together, we can embark on a journey of self-discovery and becoming!
How can I help you thrive?
